  1. Rest in Peace, Father Creator

Tributes to Glen A. Larson have been popping up all over social media today; the creator/producer of many beloved shows from the late '70s and early '80's passed away last night (November 14). The list of his shows is long and includes many that are now considered classics: BJ and the Bear, Magnum PI, Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, Fall Guy, Quincy ME, Knight Rider...

He also created TV's Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, based on the classic comic strip.

  2. It's been a year...?

I can't believe it's been a year since I wrote a Dawg's Bark post. Heaven knows I've witnessed enough stupidity in this world (surprisingly, some of it a little bit of it came from outside of Washington DC!) to have written volumes in the last 12 months.

  3. It rankles

It's Saturday, and I'm awake far earlier than I need to be - or want to. I could have slept most of the day (which would have been wonderful, considering my week), but between the temperature, my low back, and the horde of orcs that camped in my sinuses overnight, I woke up before my weekday alarm would have gone off (but it was turned off, since I was anticipating a much longer sleep...).

I have vanquished the horde of orcs, thanks to gravity, Kleenex, and a cup of hot green tea - ...

  4. Hair

In this incredibly political moment, with 8 out of every 10 TV ads being for one candidate or another (and the rest for feminine hygiene products), I find my thoughts taken up by a subject far more intense and ultimately of far more lasting importance than any political issue.

    I've been thinking about hair.

We are a culture obsessed with hair. We color it, we comb it - or make it look artfully messy - we coat it with products, we shave it off (yes, the lack of hair qualifies ...

  5. Davy Jones died this morning...

and the news made me very thoughtful. I grew up in the 1960's and early '70's, so I saw The Monkees first-run - I also saw Star Trek first-run - and I was a fan. Oh, I knew that Mike Nesmith was the only real musician of the four, that other people wrote the songs and played the instruments, but the songs were upbeat, the show bright and frenetic - truly the first music videos ever produced.

And while I never understood the screaming female fan effect (although I must confess I soon ...
