Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 marks the one-year anniversary of the release of the PlayStation 3 video game console, according to Sony. While the company continues to forge ahead with support for its older PlayStation 2 console and recently refreshed its PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld system, the PlayStation 3 is the flagship in the company gaming line.

Sony noted that more than 200 titles have been release for PS3 since it launched. The game system also spawned a companion online service called the PlayStation Network (PSN), where players can download demos, full games and add-on content to games they already own. PSN has generated more than 60 million pieces of content that have been downloaded from PS3 users worldwide, according to Sony.

Sony recently introduced a new PS3 model to the U.S. market priced at $399, and Sony said that sales have taken off a result - a 192 percent increase at the top 10 retailers in North America. The company has timed a new advertising campaign in time for the holidays, to sell consumers on the benefits of the PS3, including its Blu-ray Disc movie playback capabilities.

Speaking as a PS3 owner, I would say IF Sony wants to entice more families to buy this they should try and get some family friendly titles on the market.

I own a PS3, all the games I play are ps2. WHY? these isnt a Family Frindly game that ages 5-adult can play Together (I'm not counting sports titles as they belong to another catagory).

A family friendly title that will permit 1-4 players (offline) to play together will help sell the system.

I've just learned the details of Blu-ray. I'm more sold now than ever to get a PS3.

Try to find a 60GB if you can.....they're probably selling out of those quick, since they're backwards compatible all the way to PS1.

If not that, get an 80GB. They're going for $500 now I think.
