The cable ISPs would love to charge everyone broadband prices even if they only surf occasionally and check email for pictures of the grandkids.
5% of their customers use the service as it is sold. That is the problem.
Rather than bitching about pricing, they should panic about how they are going to deliver that same capacity at the same price when other users start using their Internet as a television delivery service just like the WGA thinks they are going to do.
If the pricing is transparent, then I have no philosophical issue with it.
But if customers cannot compare apples to apples, meaning compare a fixed amount per month on cable to that cost of the same amount (even at a slower speed) per month on DSL or other ISP pipe, then there is customer exploitation in play.

Charging people based on usage... Isn't that the reason people are FLOCKING away from the Telcos to the cable providers?
