Would you rather have a Continuation be a regular television series, a periodic TV miniseries, or a series of feature films?

Just curious.

I went with the a normal TV series. For me the show started off as a show, and you can do so much more with character development and story arcs over the course of a TV series than in a mini series or a movie.

A movie would probably take way too much time inbetween to do them, unless you can get someone to produce it the same way that Peter Jackson did LotR.

A mini series would be my next choice, but again you really can only have so much done in a 2, 4, 6 or whatever time block you have.

Feature films...

Weekly television series usually fall victim to ratings, network, etc. in some way or another. In the end, they either get cancelled prematurely, or get meddled with to the point of silliness.

Periodic telefilms isn't the worst idea, but they just don't have the same impact as a feature film. If it does well, anyway...

I think I'd have to go with feature films myself. It seems to me that there'd be less chance of interference from suits and marketing monkeys in a feature film.

FF because I love seeing the ships large and losing myself in the story for 2 hours.

I'd settle for a TV movie miniseries/series. Whatever B was. I like spaceships on the big screen where you can oogle all that insanely modeled detail though.

I rather like the idea of several mini-series because you get a little more of your continuation in shorter order than with a feature film (which the wait is usually anywhere between 2-3 years, unless you are shooting multiple films back to back, then the wait might be six months.)

But with several mini-series, you get the benefits of better production values than a normal weekly series (and considering that production values for many shows rival those you'd get in a big screen release, the benefit is greater than you'd expect), better thought out and more epic stories (that's the idea anyway), and you don't have to wait so long like you would for a theatrically released feature film.

Respectfully,

Miniseries: long enough to be a meaty chunk of story, but not so expensive that the suits freak. I think of them as movies for DVD.

Feature films, and preferably films meant for the Silver Screen.

I couldn't come up with a definitive vote. Depends on the specific property or franchise as to what I think would work best.

I wouldn't expect anything less.

no, no... I meant was that meant as an insult or a compliment... or neither...?

I may have misunderstood the original premise of the poll. I assume it was asking about continuations in general. However, if it was asking about a BSG continuation, I could give a definite vote... that being mini-series.

Two-hour show once a month.
