But, at this point, any Mac software should be offered as well on Linux platforms. There is no technical reason for it not to be so.

Which leaves it as a mere marketing position. A simple matter of branding.

There is nothing unique about Mac hardware, it is the same as any Intel based machine.
There is nothing unique about the operating system, it is Unix.

All that is unique about the Mac is the brand name, which might be important to those who insist on a designer label.
