Sory guys. I'm not feeling this one. Something about the animation isn't sitting well with me.

I'm there with you. I'd like to see more - but for an animated piece they could have done better.

Yeah, the CG looks great, but the hand drawn animation is a bit lacking.

Personally, I thought Dragonlance sucked when it first came out in the mid-80's, both as books and as a campaign setting for D&D (my first exposure to it was as the game). So, this isn't enticing me in the least.

I don't remember the "godess" being part of the original story line, but when the tag-line says, "a handful of heroes must face a goddess and her unstopable army of dragons," my first thought is, "if this movie lasts longer than 5 seconds, the goddess and her minions must REALLY be inept."

The "goddess" is Takhisis, otherwise known as Tiamat in other D&D lore.

Admitedly, the first book was somewhat dry. The second two books in the first trilogy were much better.

But the second trilogy was far superior, and very very good.

THe second trilogy was pretty amazing. I agree.

The cel animation looks like something from 1980s-era DiC TV Cartoons, while the inclusion of CG elements is somewhat jarring. Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles had similar issues with their space-based CGI contrasting with the hand-drawn cels of the characters.

Robotech:TSC had better cel animation than this though.

This looks like a straight-to-DVD release that might just do some serious damage to the Dragonlance brand...

Didn't Titan AE have that on a large scale? 3D CGI and cartoonish CGI?

Yep. So do the straight to DVD Marvel animated features.

Well, after rereading the bit above the trailer, it looks like it's not the final trailer, just something they cobbled together for DragonCon.

And Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman are intimately involved with the making of it, so who knows.
