I so deserve to get a screener of this!
This is the guy that did Airplane, and this unused Republican campaign ad:

Sorry, but I can't support the stereotype of the unpatriotic liberal. That bullshit just makes me seethe with anger. Michael Moore is a sellout, maybe he deserves to be lampooned, but the underlying theme is bullshit. Pass.

Bah!
It is a free market "Fairness Doctrine" for shows Like The Daily Show which get good mileage out of conservative stereotyping.
From http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/07/15/america/15humor.php
When Stewart on "The Daily Show" recently tried to joke about Obama changing his position on campaign financing, for instance, he met with such obvious resistance from the audience, he said, "You know, you're allowed to laugh at him." Stewart said in a telephone interview on Monday, "People have a tendency to react as far as their ideology allows them."
I might be right there with you if I occasionally heard some lefty taking a principled stand against portraying conservatives as automatically racist, automatically warmongers, and automatically stupid.
In the absence of such corrections from the left, this is sauce for the goose.
Can they take it?
Can they laugh at themselves?
Or will it be uncomfortable silence, like whenever The Daily Show tries to make a joke at Obama's expense?

I don't disagree, Darth. Freedom of speech is something in which I believe very, very strongly. If The Daily Show pisses you off, I get that. So you don't watch it. I say enjoy the movie, if it's your cup of tea. It's underlying theme pisses me off, so I won't be seeing it.

CT, are you upset about the trailer for An American Carol or the anti-appeasment ad or both?
I understand your sensitivity on this issue. I'm just seeking clarity.
Also, I don't consider you to be one of the sell-outs. I may not agree with you, but I do understand that you honestly believe that liberalism is good for our country.

I reacted in the moment. The idea that non-conservatives are anti-American is a sore spot. I come from an extremely conservative extended family. Growing up was not always easy.

I believe in balance (I guess that's why I'm a Libra). Extreme liberalism is as dangerous as extreme conservatism. The stereotype of the anti-American liberal is as unfair as the stereotype of the warmongering conservative.
Darth's point is well taken. I just reacted to a sore spot.
I can laugh, btw, laugh at Barack Obama. I busted a gut when The Onion published a picture of Obama with the caption "Black Guy Spotted Begging For Change."

Obama still scares the pants off me as a potential commander in chief.

As John McCain scares the pants off me as... well, anything to do with the Executive Branch. But these are comments better suited for one forum down. Let's keep them there.
The article that went along with that photo in The Onion was a stitch, too. I found the link:
