Which is why it was BETTER before comcast got their corproate grubby hands on it.

@Home ran their own news server, uncapped to users.
They were a real and full service ISP.
Comcast taking them over was the beginning of a gradual service reduction coupled with price increases.

Ah. I guess I was still living up in the mountains of Virginia when all of that was happening. Comcast was already the only game in town when I got up here to D.C.
Customer service everywhere in this country is pretty much going to shit, but Comcast is definitely lighting the way.
@Home was bought out by Comcast.

AT&T took over the broadband service from @Home when @Home 'imploded' around 2001 timeframe and renamed it AT&T Broadband Internet. The email ids had the "attbi . com" extension.
Comcast bought AT&T Broadband in 2002.

ATT took certain regions, while others went straight from @Home to Comcast.
It was terrible, no matter how it happened to the individual user.
