That's just the most courageous act I can imagine... Some might call it stupid, but I can't imagine what it would take to be willing to potentially sacrifice themselves.

I'm glad that he survived and I'm sure that he'll be rewarded properly very soon. You just don't see that every day, now do you?

It is truly amazing. These stories of complete unselfishness!

This is actually the third such story I have heard, though the first one where the soldier survived. I am sure that there are many more such stories, but we too often don't hear about them, because they are not on topic for most news agencies.

In one, it was house to house, room to room fighting... and when a grenade was thrown into a room of Marines, one of them dove on it to shield the rest.

Another, more recently was about a grenade thrown into a Humvee and the gunner coming down on top of the grenade to shield the rest.

Needless to say, they did not survive, but will be remember in the hearts and minds of the comrads they saved and all of their families I am certain.
