Uploaded a torrent of the "Tombs of Kobol" re-edit (aka Lost Planet of the Gods).

Since Demonoid is gone, I uploaded to the pirate bay... http://thepiratebay.org

If you search "battlestar" there you should find the link to the torrent.

It is a DVD ISO file so you will need to burn it to a DVD. After that is should play in a standard DVD player. Also included (as I have before) the raw effects as an extra.

Also... please, please, please keep the file up and seeding as long as you can. Being a DVD ISO it is over 3 gig in size. It may take some time to download, however the more people who keep sharing, then the faster it will be for others. When it gets down to me being the only person seeding the file again after 100 plus people downloaded (as has happened in the past) I will be removing the torrent.

Thanks, and hope you like.

Dave

p.s. I think this is the last of them.

In the past I had prolems with the other site, I confess as well that I don't know how to seed.

If you download the torrent, after it is finished it usually moves to a separate window for files that have finished. Just leave it there. Then others who are downloading the file can get bits and pieces of the data from the one you have already downloaded.

Usually it will show the upload speed (if someone is downloading from it) and the share ratio.

So after your download is completed, don't delete the file from your torrent list. Keep it there and it should automatically seed.

It is a huge help for others, especially with a larger file like this. And the more people who keep it in there list and sharing (seeding) the faster it will become for others.

Looks like I'm having Norton firewall issues. I don't want to turn it off but seems like my firewall is preventing the torrent.

Think there is something wrong with the torrent. Will have to set up a new one. Will update everyone shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience

I came home from the airplane hanger a.k.a studio and found it downloading. Cool...only four more days left!

Should I stop and start over or let it keep going?

I'm downloading it, but it is one of the slowest downloads I've seen, but I've never gotten anything off of Pirate Bay before.

The speed is governed by the other uploaders.

I'm gonna have to study up on how to bitorrent... I got to the site and attempted a download, and it's not letting me do anything.

Good grief... 3 Gigs????

dkerin
12-02-2007, 02:20 AM
Well it is 3 gig because I did it as a DVD file. Initially I posted the other re-edits as xvid avi files, but some preferred a DVD disk image for quality, plus ease of playing on an actual tv.

The more people that download then the higher the download speeds should become.

To avoid "worm" reports I had to go in and give my torrent proggy special permissions in norton AV

Just checked and 4 people are at 98 percent or higher on completion. Let me know how they work after they are burned to DVD, and of course, please keep them up and sharing/seeding for others.

If you are behind a NAT router, the Norton Firewall isn't doing much for you, unless you use it to shut off outbound connections by default (which is indeed good).

If you use a BT client, then indeed you should allow it to pass the firewall.

I'm at 73% completion with an estimated 18 hours to complete downloading this fan edit. I hope it's worth it!

David -

I finally finished downloading the edited version and I burned a disk. It plays okay on my PC, but when I play the disk on a DVD player, the sound levels go up and down a bit and cut out at times. The video playback is perfect, but I'm having sound problems.

This is the first time that I've burned a DVD directly from an ISO file. Is there something that I've missed. I've never had this problem with files that I've converted and burned.

Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

You're not alone. Some of the previous ones I've downloaded, I've had sound problems with as well.

For me, it's primarily that the soundtrack seems to be either a second or two ahead or behind the video. But it's not consistent through the entire film, it'll only appear (or sound) that way, say 25% or less of the time through an episode.

The worst of it is the entire opening sequence that David did with Adama's voice in the background is completely unintelligible. I also had to crank the sound up quite a bit higher than normal. I thought that once the visuals got to the standard episode footage, it would clear up.

The sound is sync'd with the picture just fine, but the sound continually cuts in and out, which makes you almost want to turn the sound off completely. This does not make for good viewing unless you can read lips.

These things always happen to me, I'm not surprised. I don't blame David at all, I'm kind of new at the DVD burning thing. I've got a program that converts all kinds of files to DVD and that works really well for me.

Oh no, not me either, I'm a bit new to this sort of stuff as well, so I figure I probably have some obscure setting somewhere off.

Is everyone who finished downloading still seeding?

dkerin
12-07-2007, 10:19 AM
At the moment, it doesn't look like it. Has listed as one person seeding, however that can change as people's computers are turned on or off.

There are 4 people downloading at this time, so I will still keep m computer up and running for them. Within the next couple weeks, if no one is downloading or seeding, then I'll likely take the file down.

People need to get their shit together and start seeding.

My computer was on Monday through Friday so I hope it was seeding. I’m not all that knowledgeable about Torrents.

I noticed picture and sound quality changes when Dave inserts the deleted scenes from the box set. Understandable because the source quality is so different. What surprised me was I got a lot of a brief screech like popping sound and pixilation. I had to turn it off which is unfortunate because my wife and I where very much enjoying it.

Solution? Download again? Burn the DVD again?

Dave some of your best stuff is in here I really hope you do a few more, the episodes are everything Uni should have done.

The sound thing is strange. The opening narration I can see as that is from an old analog sound source. However the deleted scenes from the DVD shouldn't have that. I did add the battlestar thruster sound to the background, kind of the hum of the engines from inside the ship.

Are you possibly watching in with a 5.1 surround system? Since it is not 5.1, then maybe it is doing something strange in the decoding of the audio stream. I did play it here and not get that.

I wish DVDs and DVD burning systems were standard, but there seem to be so many little flukey things that can happen. In some ways it makes VHS more reliable.

I will get an xvid avi version of this uploaded as well, so it will be smaller file size of just the movie. Then if someone wants to convert it to DVD they can use a program like "Convert X to DVD" which does a great job ov converting AVIs. (IMHO)

Mac users can use a freeware program called ffmpegX to convert AVIs to DVD. It's only $15. Of course, if your DVD player supports DivX playback, there will be no need for conversion.

I think we've all agreed that David will be completing the series. Plus all the 1980 episodes for Peter.

yes for Peter.

I think the only improvements David could make to G'80 would be turning the single-seater into the double and having the Raiders not be see-through in the first "computer-simulation" shot from GDE.
