I am actually getting excited about this.

I have so much respect for the desire of the producers to respect the source material and maintain continuity.

I hope that (a) this is top-quality SciFi/Action/Adventure, and that if (a) comes to pass, (b) this (coupled with the wildly popular success of Doctor Who in Great Britain) will send a message to Hollywood regarding how you treat a classic when you decide to revive it.

I would like to think this is going to turn out good, too, but considering that this is Hollywood I'm waiting until I actually know for sure.

Not keen on it being a Ford, but I can't blame them it is the only prevelant Muscle car out there.

While I'm not pleased with this car, it isn't the type of change that IMO spiuts in the face of the original

I really wanted the new Camaro....really really bad.

This will take some mental adjustment. So I'll still wait and see.

I would like to have seen a deal made by Pontiac with a 2002 Trans Am then later introduce the 2010 Trans Am. Of course Pontiac has no "plans" for a 2010 Trans Am. Manix drove a 1973 'Cuda vert yet no such car ever was made.

WHAT!?!?!?!

NO! Absolutely NOT!!!

KITT is a Trans-Am, NOT a Found On Road Dying vehicle!!!!

(I'm from a GM family, so I take this personally).

I like the idea of making it a 2010 Trans Am regardless of whether Pontiac makes one. 8)

I thought is was Fix or repair DAILY???

My dad has a saying that could be edited to fit ANY car make though:

Ashes to Ashes Dust to Dust
(Fords) were made so your tools don't rust.

(Like I said, insert make there).

Myself, I have a Jeep, a Ford and A Pontiac Firebird. One of each so to say.

But making KITT a Ford is a bit weird. It'd be like remaking Dukes of Hazzard AGAIN, and this time making the General Lee a Honda or something.

But it still sounds like an interesting show SO FAR. I'm cautiously optimistic on this one. Must be the holidays.

I was never really invested in the original show back in the 80's. I remember that the particular year Firebird used for Kitt was a brand new design at the time, so it really stood out a bit.

As for the brand of car, I don't have a preference. They could use a Smart car in the remake for all I care, but the GT500KR is pretty striking to look at, though hardly unique. The current Mustang platform has been around for a few years now, so for most folks it'll just look like a black Mustang with a scanning "eye" up front.

As for certain makes and models being reliable, I've owned 5 Mustangs, 2 Cougars, a Pinto Wagon, a Ford Escape and an XLT Convertable. The only one out of that group of cars that gave me trouble was a 1980 Mustang that was 15 years old at the time I bought it, so I considered it an "old car" thing, not a production issue.

I've also owned a Chevy S-10, a Buick Skyhawk and a Geo Metro - with those, I had one or two warrantee issues, but nothing to do with reliability.

I'm currently on my 5th Mazda and my 3rd Miata. Ford owns a large percentage of Mazda, but the cars I've had are manufactured in Japan, not the U.S. No problems there either.

Hey, maybe they should have used an RX-8!

The Mustang is a piece of crap. They should have kept the Trans Am for Knight Rider.

In November of 2005, I bought a 2006 turbo-diesel VW Jetta. It was brand new, and I had it for all of five days before the engine blew up. Actually, it was just the turbocharger that exploded, but it shrapneled the whole engine. The repair shop said the problem was due to an obviously defective rotor. Initially, I had to question how an obviously malformed rotor could pass inspection, but that became immediately obvious when they couldn't get the right parts from Mexico after three attempts.

The dealership couldn't fix it, and neither they nor the national VW representatives would do anything to either refund me my money or simply replace the car. In Arizona, if a car has been in the shop for more than 30 days out of a year, it is legally a lemon, and cannot be sold for anything remotely close to blue book. Although I'd informed all parties involved that I was both familiar with the law and would take action if necessary, and despite the fact that they had absolutely no legal leg to stand on, both the dealership and the national VW reps just kept monkeying around for a month and a half. At that point, I was forced to hire a lawyer and take them to court. In the end, not only was VW forced to pay back the entire cost of the car, they were forced to pay my legal fees, and were now stuck with a car they couldn't legally sell in the state of AZ.

I learned first hand why some refer to VW's as "Fukenbröken." Fine German engineering, my ASS!

How does this relate to Knight Rider, you may ask? After that, I went out and bought a black 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. I've had no complaints with it. Actually, it ROCKS!

Yeah, that one would be cool. I can even hear KITT (William Daniels) thanking them for upping his coolness factor.

Okay, how about this one? Just paint it all black. BTW, updated the other post with a image of the inside of the car.
