I normally end up putting my baby daughter (now nearly 9 months old) to bed. Like a lot of research engineers I'm a bit OCD, and tend to accidentally ritualize daily events. Last night, I suddenly realized I've created two of them around Isabella's bedtime.
When I pick her up and start walking toward the stairs, I immediately say, "Your destiny lies with me ... the Emperor has forseen it!!!"
Then when I reach the top of the stairs, I don't bother turning on a light (I've got pretty good low-light vision). As I step off the stairs, I'll look down at my cooing little girl and say, "By the time we reach your bedroom your journey to the Darkside will be complete!!!"
Yep. I'm a geek.
