And here's something else that won't be offending my delicate sensibilities:

(I know we talked about this a long time ago... but now it's here).

I keep scratching my head at this.

Yes, Halmi said, "Tin Man" is a "bit darker. To make a classic understood by young people today you have to talk an entirely different language."

No, you don't. Young people today may not be all that well educated, but they're not that stupid.
In "talk an entirely different language" (Halmi might try English) so, you destroy what made the classic a classic.
Who [i]are these people?

I'll give it a chance.
I have no interest in this project.

The current people wokring in Hollywood. Did you really expect anything based of a classic to even resemble its source material?

Not interested. Actually, if anything, I think I'd rather read the book by L. Frank Baum.

It is merely a modern interpretation of a classic theme.
Just like Forbidden Planet.

Believe me, Forbidden Planet didn't market itself as an interpretation of Shakespeare. Nor were it's main characters named Prospero, Ariel, Caliban, or Ferdinand.
The Wiz would be a better example of the point you're trying to make, or even the non-sequel Return to Oz.
Whatever the case, it's simply not needed. While I'm glad the producers were bold enough to give it a different name, I can take comfort in how quickly Tin Man is likely to be forgotten.
Who are these people?
Probably the same people that made life hard for the school nerd by picking on him and laughing about it, masterbated to copies of their dad's Playboy (or their mom's even) and thought smoking and shooting up drugs was so cool because the 'healthy' messages were for 'losers' anyway.

To me, you just can't remake a classic. I take it this song will not be in the mini-series.

I also like Israel Kamakawiwo Ole's and Connie Talbot versions of Somewhere over the rainbow.

Personally, I think it's a piece of garbage but, with Skiffy's budget, all that they can get are retreads. The next original thought from Skiffy's leadership will be their first.
We've been having some fun discussions over at the TM wing of the Skiffy Outhouse, about Tin Man (http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showforum=142)
