My daughter just e-mailed me with photos of her crowned as the Airman of the Year for 2007 at her AF base.

Darrell -
That's terrific news! I know what an achievement that is - I got really close once when I was stationed in Texas, but someone else got it.
Congratulations!

Darrell... congrats! Some months ago, I did a story about an FAA employee who's a member of the Air National Guard. He was selected one of "The 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year" for both the Air Force and the Guard. So I KNOW what a big deal this is!
You must be BURSTING with pride! Again, congratulations! And, like Boar, I salute your daughter's service to this nation.

Wow, very cool. I just sat in on an Airmen of the Year board a couple of weeks ago, we where very critical of every aspect of the board review/interview. It was a very hard decision to make. I was impressed with each candidate; at that level the smallest detail can put you on top. We emphasized to each candidate to have pride just making the cut to compete. You should be proud!

Thanks, everyone :)
I defiantly know how hard it can be, having went before the Army version when I was serving.
I'm still beaming with pride! :D
