Man, I wish it was possible to send an electric shock through the telephone line to whoever is on the other end. I have just received the umpteenth telephone call from a debt collector at NCB Management Services Inc. I have explained to this idiot that the person she is trying to reach does NOT reside in my home, has NEVER resided in my home, and I don't know who the h*ll she is. The only connection I have to this person is that we share the same last name...as do a million other people in the world. We do NOT have the same first or middle name.

I emailed the Attorney General to complain and inquire as to my rights, but I have not yet heard back. I am on the Indiana Do Not Call List. I am seriously considering pursuing a lawsuit. It may cost me several thousand initially, but I have no doubt I would recover it all and then some.

I have to wonder...is she randomly calling everyone in the state who has this last name? Sheesh.

This has happened to my wife - not same last name but apparently someone put our phone number down or something. She started off being polite, firm, and then finally wanted to talk to their legal department as she was about to begin legal actions (a bluff mind you) and the calls magically disapeared after that.

Are your callers at least On this continent, or outsourced to the middle/far east?

They're here in the good ole US of A. Although I have to admit that the gal who keeps calling mumbles so much that it's difficult to understand her. I did some checking on this company, and they are headquartered in Trevose, Pennsylvania, but they also have offices in Florida. Seems that there are many lawsuits pending against this company, but for all I know that may be common for debt collection companies.

By the way...moments ago I received a call from a manager at the company. He was profusely apologetic and promised that I would not receive any more calls from their company. Time will tell.

Yeah...

My roomie had the same problem and she just kept ignoring the calls because they weren't for her. I told her as long as she completely ignored them, then they would continue for some time to come - collection agencies are used to not having their calls answered. I told her that she would have to get on the line and inform them of the error and if it didn't stop, to threaten them with some sort of reprisal as she was on the "do not call" registry.

When she finally did that, the calls stopped. She was amazed that it worked.

I had a similar issue with a local long distance company trying to chat me up for their services. Being that I never asked for them to call, never provided them with information, much less my home phone number, I was less than happy to keep getting periodic phone calls from the same individual at the same company. When I started to quiz him about where he got my unlisted phone number from (I already knew how), he got very nervous and sidestepped my questions. I then informed him that it would be inappropriate to call that number again, unless his company wanted a written complaint from me. The calls mysteriously stopped.
