When one of the major and most respected authors of our time,
Arthur C. Clarke, collaborates with one of the most visionary and
avant-garde directors of our time, Stanley Kubrick, the movie that is
created will certainly be, at the very least, memorable.
1968's "2001
A Space Odyssey" was that and more; a genuine classic, an epic science fiction
film, and best-selling novel. 14 years later it spawned a sequel,
"2010: Odyssey Two", which was made into a movie by Peter Hyams in 1984
("2010: The Year We Make Contact"). "2061: Odyssey Three" came in
1987, and "3001 The Final Odyssey" was published a decade later (1997).
2001 is a universe that expanded over thirty years and a millennium,
portraying a future that was possible, believable and exciting.
